How you can Publicise your Website
I gave a speech recently in which I summarised the methods by which many of my clients have publicised their websites. Here is an excerpt that I thought might interest you…
“Whatever you choose, make sure that publicising your website is an integral part of your overall marketing strategy.
- Business cards & stationery
- Sign writing on buildings & vehicles
- Email messages - include a link to your website in your Autosignature
- Answer-machine messages Radio, Newspaper & TV ads
- Competitions & giveaways
- Industry publications
- Tradeshows such as the Homeshow '
- Letterbox drops & fax campaigns (NZ Post has a really cost efficient service)
- Online Directories (esp Yellowpages) & Search Engines
- Publish articles – esp in online magazines that provide a link to your website
- Newsletters to all customers & suppliers – snail-mail or email (include a link) or both.
It's a matter of choosing the most appropriate medium for the publicity to suit the message that you are conveying. Many on this list are quite inexpensive.”
Whatever you choose, remember - there needs to be a compelling reason why people should come visit the website.

Newsletters
The most effective form of marketing involves talking to people. The more opportunities that you have to talk, the more likely you are to ultimately do business together. Talking can take on written form – what I’m talking about here is mass production of individual correspondence e.g. newsletters like this one.
This months marketing tip is that for relatively little cost, you can increase the number of occasions that you ‘talk’ to your customers and potential customers. For many people the only cost of a newsletter like this one is a little time and commitment to producing a regular publication.
Does it really work? From my experience I can tell you that every publication produces positive results for my business (I wouldn’t keep doing it otherwise).
Also, just think about the enhancement to your reputation as an expert in your field.
Free Marketing Tool
Cost effective marketing is what we’re all searching for – right? What could be more cost effective than something that works but is FREE?
One of our customers reports that they have had positive results by including an invitation to visit their website in the answer-phone message. It costs you nothing and provides a reminder to clients that there is another method by which they can contact you.
